Stop Tapping Backspace! Try This Hidden Gboard Trick ⌨️💨
Are you still deleting long paragraphs one letter at a time? If you use Google's Gboard, there is a much faster way to clear out large chunks of text using a simple swipe gesture.
Here is how to set it up and speed up your typing workflow:
⚙️ How to Enable Gesture Delete
Before you can use this shortcut, you need to make sure it is turned on.
1. Open your Gboard Settings.
2. Tap on Glide typing.
3. Toggle on Enable gesture delete (or "Glide delete").
👈 Swipe Left to Delete
Once it is enabled, you never have to spam the backspace key again.
1. Place your cursor at the end of the text you want to remove.
2. Touch and hold the Backspace key (located next to the "m" on English keyboards, or "Ya" on Myanmar keyboards), and immediately swipe your finger to the left.
3. The text will highlight to show what is being selected.
4. Pro Tip: If you highlight too much, don't lift your finger! Just slide it back to the right to deselect. Once you have the exact right words highlighted, lift your finger to instantly delete them.
↩️ Made a Mistake? How to Undo
If you accidentally swiped too far and deleted something important, you can easily get it back—but you have to act fast!
Immediately look at the suggestion strip at the top of your keyboard and tap the deleted text (or the Undo button). Your text will instantly reappear.
Warning: You can only retrieve your deleted text if you haven't touched any other keys yet. Once you tap another key, the undo option is gone forever.
