South Korean broadcaster SBS plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to retell superstar Kim Kwang-seok’s voice
This is the first program in the 25 years since Kim Kwang-seok’s death. The show is titled “Competition of the Century: AI vs Human” and will air next week. This is not the first time that a South Korean singer has performed with AI technology.
In December, music channel Mnet aired “One More Time” using AI technology in honor of classical musicians.
In addition, K-Pop superstar BTS performed the songs of the late singer Shin Hae-chul, who died in 2014, in an AI version at the New Year’s Eve online concert. At the moment, AI-related concerts are thrilling for fans of their music, but some are worried about the ethics and legality of using the dead voice again. Creating the voices of the dead with AI technology can lead to copyright issues.
Will the owner of this new AI creation be the one who created the AI program? It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
